Parent Requirements
Who can adopt? Requirements for the HIC Vietnam Adoption Program may be changing, but currently the following are the requirements:
- Parents should be between 25 and 50 years old.
- Single women and couples are accepted.
- Clients with a criminal record are not eligible to adopt.
- Parents may not have had more than 2 divorces total.
- There are no exact medical requirements, but several minor medical issues may result in ineligibility.
These are general guidelines. If you do not meet these criteria we encourage you to talk with us before deciding against adopting from Vietnam.
Total Length of Time
The entire adoption process takes approximately 12 months from application until you return home with your child. Families open to boys and older children will be processed more quickly. The total stay in Vietnam is now approximately 1 month.
